TACOMA, Wash. – The Western Washington University Track & Field team continued its early outdoor schedule recording 13 event wins and making four entries into the top 10 program record book at the PLU Open on Saturday.
Sophomore sprinter
Caitlyn Cheney headlined Saturday's performances winning the 100m and 200m races, both recording the No. 7 mark in WWU outdoor history. Cheney ran 12.22 in the 100m, bettering her previous best of 12.64 set at least year's GNAC Championships. She smashed her previous PR in the 200m with at a time of 25.14 seconds, bettering her old mark of 26.48 by well over a second.
Sophomore
Mia Crocker won the 800m race in 2:13.41 for the No. 5 mark in WWU outdoor history.
Sophomore
Ila Davis won the 3,000m steeplechase with an impressive time of 10:36.03 to go well below the NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 11:01.26. Teammate
Ashley Reeck finished 2nd in the race in 11:27.50 for the No. 10 time in program history.
