VANCOUVER, B.C. – The Western Washington University Track & Field team wrapped up the two-day competition at the UBC Open with a pair of winners in the multi competitions.
Freshman
Austin Seals won the men's decathlon with 5,371 points and freshman
Nicole Avery won the women's heptathlon with 3,876 points.
The winning performances by the Viking freshman capped a solid two-day performance at the meet hosted by the University of British Columbia at Rashpal Dhillon Track and Field Oval. WWU recorded six event wins during Saturday's first day of competition at the UBC Open.
The final day of the UBC open also featured the steeplechase, with freshman
Sidra Miller placing 2nd in the women's race in a time of 11:56.33 and senior
Kaleb Korta finishing 3rd with a time of 9:34.28.
UP NEXT FOR THE VIKINGS
The Vikings return to action next week with a contingent of student-athletes traveling to Northern California to compete in the Mike Fanelli Track Classic (March 30-April 1) and the Stanford Invitational (March 31-April 1).
