BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University junior
Andrew Oslin opened the 2023 outdoor season by earning the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week award.
Oslin clocked a school-record time of 29:41.91 to win the 10,000m race Friday night at the Ed Boitano Invitational in Tacoma. Oslin's time not only broke the previous school record of 29:45.92 originally set by Jordan Welling in 2010, but also marked the No. 6 time in GNAC history. Oslin's early-season mark is No. 1 in NCAA Division II, with teammate
Ryan Clough right behind him in 29:55.94.
Oslin continues his impressive WWU debut after leading the Vikings cross country contingent with a 65th-place finish at nationals and an All-GNAC performance in the 5000m at the GNAC Indoor Championships.
Oslin becomes the fourth WWU student-athlete to earn GNAC Athlete of the Week honors for the indoor and outdoor track & field season, joining throwers
Raine Westfall (Dec. 5-11) and
Miller Campbell (Jan. 23-29), and middle distance runner
Drew Weber (Feb. 20-26).
