LACEY, Wash. – After splitting its doubleheader Saturday at Saint Martin's to open a four-game series, the Western Washington University softball team had its scheduled Sunday doubleheader postponed due to heavy rain in the Puget Sound region.
 
WWU and Saint Martin's will look to make up the Great Northwest Athletic Conference games during the final week of the regular season, aiming for April 27 (Thursday) or April 28 (Friday) at Saints Field on the SMU campus. More information on potential makeup dates will be shared when plans are finalized.
 
The Vikings are 19-20 overall and in 5th place in the GNAC at 8-10 with the 2023 season winding down. WWU closes out the home portion of the schedule next weekend (April 22-23) hosting Montana State Billings at Viking Field in Bellingham. The final week of the regular season was scheduled as a bye week for the Vikings, but will now look to makeup today's postponed games.
 
With two weeks left in the regular season, Saint Martin's (21-11, 8-4) has only played half of the conference's 24-game league schedule. The top four teams in the conference standings will advance to play in the GNAC Championships May 4-6 in Burnaby, B.C.
  WWU (19-20, 8-10 GNAC) closes out the home portion of the regular season schedule next weekend hosting Montana State Billings in a pair of doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday (April 22-23) at Viking Field in Bellingham with first pitch scheduled for noon each day. The Sunday game will celebrate the Vikings five senior players. Sunday's doubleheader at Saint Martin's will feature live coverage with a YouTube webcast and live statistical updates, with direct links found at wwuvikings.com/Live.
