Drew Weber earns third career GNAC weekly award after great performance at Bryan Clay Invitational

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University Track & Field standout Drew Weber continues to pile up awards from the 2022-23 season adding another GNAC Track Athlete of the Week award to his resume.
 
Weber (Vancouver, WA/Fort Vancouver) had an impressive showing at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California of the weekend, recording a pair of NCAA Championships provisional qualifying marks in the 800m and the 1500m races.
 
The sophomore recorded a pair of personal-best times in both events, breaking his own school record in the 800m in 1:49.34, the No. 6 mark in GNAC history and No. 8 in NCAA Division II this season.
 
In the 1500m race, Weber's time of 3:44.83 remained No. 3 in WWU history, No. 6 in Division II this season and No. 7 on the GNAC all-time list.
 
This marks the third GNAC Track Athlete of the Week award for Weber in his career and second this season. During the indoor season Weber earned Second Team individual All-America honors placing 10th in the 800m and was a First Team All-American as part of the 7th-place distance medley relay team.

UP NEXT FOR THE VIKINGS
The Vikings return to action in the Northwest this weekend competing in the CWU Wildcat Invitational in Ellensburg, Washington, with competition scheduled to begin at 10 am with field events at the CWU Recreation Sports Complex. WWU will then be back in Bellingham to host the Ralph Vernacchia Invitational Saturday, April 29 at Civic Stadium.
