BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Western Washington University Track & Field program opens the 2024 indoor season this weekend competing at the UW Preview on Saturday inside Dempsey Indoor in Seattle.
A large contingent of Vikings are set to make their 2024 debut in competition, with the UW Preview serving as the first of five indoor meets on the schedule for January and February.
WWU is looking to build off the fall success of the cross country program, with both the men's and women's team sweeping the GNAC titles and each placing in the upper half of the 34-team field at nationals. Both teams finished runner-up at the 2023 GNAC Indoor Championships and for the first time swept the podium with both teams placing first at the GNAC Outdoor Championships.
The UW Indoor Preview features a full schedule of events with the women's 3,000m scheduled to open racing at 8:40 am and the women's weight throw kicking off the field events at 9 am. The UW Preview marks the first of four competitions the Vikings will participate in at Dempsey Indoor, also traveling to Seattle for the UW Invitational (Jan. 26-27), Husky Classic (Feb. 9-10) and the Ken Shannon Last Chance Invite (Feb. 23-24).
