Lauren F. Lee ties for individual runner-up honors at 2-over-par 146

WAIKOLOA VILLAGE, Hawai'i – Western Washington University junior golfer Lauren F. Lee fired a final round score of even-par 72 on Tuesday to earn runner-up honors at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate.

 

Lee finished with a two-round score of 2-over-par 146 with rounds of 74 (+2) and 72 (E) to tie for second place in the 78-player field in the tournament played on the Village Course at Waikoloa Village. Madison Murr of Cal State San Marcos ran away with the individual title at 7-under-par 137 (69-68) for a nine-stroke victory.

 

The Vikings placed ninth overall in the 15-team tournament with a score of 42-over-par 618, turning in matching rounds of 21-over-par 309. Missouri-St. Louis won the team title at 15-over-par 591 for a four-stroke victory over Cal State San Marcos.

 

WWU's remaining four golfers were bunched up with freshmen Lauren J. Lee and Kenzie Walsh tying for 51st place at 15-over-par 159. Junior Emma Worgum tied for 55th at 16-over-par 160 and junior Kasey Maralack tied for 59th at 17-over-par 161.

 

The Vikings take Wednesday off, play in a practice round Thursday and close out the fall portion of the 2024-25 schedule Friday-Saturday at the HPU Sharks Shootout at the Mauna Lani North Course. ABOUT WWU WOMEN'S GOLF

The WWU women's golf team enters its 32nd season as an intercollegiate sport in 2024-25. WWU has a rich history on the links, winning the first five GNAC Championships beginning in 2011 and returned to the podium with back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022. WWU made its 12th appearance in the NCAA II West Regional Championships in 2022 after earning the GNAC's automatic bid. WWU has also made six trips to the NCAA II National Championships. A Viking has been named the GNAC Player of the Year in nine of the 12 years it has been awarded, including 2021-22 award winner Megan Billeter. WWU has also produced the only two players in GNAC history to earn four First Team All-GNAC awards (Jenn Paul and Kristen Hansen) and has had nine All-Americans.
