WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i – The Western Washington University men's golf team wrapped up the fall portion of the 2024-25 schedule tying for 15th place at the HPU Sharks Shootout.
The two-day, 36-hole tournament was competed October 25-26 at the par 70 Waikoloa Beach Golf Resort with Hawai'i Pacific University serving as the tournament host.
WWU recorded a tournament team score of 14-over-par 574, firing a 3-over-par 283 in Saturday's final round to move up the leaderboard two spots.
Freshman Jack Kendrick led the Vikings tying for 52nd place in the 105-player field finishing at 4-over-par 144 with rounds of 4-over-par 74 and even-par 70. Freshman Ryan Vest tied for 57th place at 5-over-par 145 (73-72) and junior Peter Dionne-Yahr carded a 6-over-par 146 to tie for 65th place. Dionne-Yahr carded three out of four rounds under par during the Vikings two tournament trip to Hawai'i.
No. 1 nationally-ranked and defending national champion Colorado Christian won its fifth fall tournament bettering the field by 12 strokes finishing at 28-under-par 532. Cal State East Bay, Stanislaus State, Colorado Mesa and Hawai'i Hilo rounded out the top five in the 19-team field.
Adam Duncan of Colorado Christian took home individual medalist honors at 10-under-par 130 (64-66) to beat out teammate Sangha Park by three strokes (65-68).

With the fall portion of the 2024-25 schedule complete, the Vikings will take the next few months away from competition, returning to action March 10-11 opening the spring slate at the Pioneer Shootout in Alameda, California.

The WWU men's golf team has an incredible streak of advancing to the NCAA Championships in each of the 25 seasons the program has competed at the NCAA Division II level dating back to the 1998-99 season. WWU placed 3rd at the 2013 national championship for the highest finish in program history and made its 10th trip to the National Championship Finals in 2023 placing 15th. The program has produced 16 NCAA All-Americans and has won 11 of 16 Great Northwest Athletic Conference championships since the tournament debuted in 2008. The Vikings have also featured the GNAC Championships individual medalist in 10 of 16 tournaments with Jordan Lee joining the elite list of conference champions in 2023 and nine GNAC Player of the Year awards.
