KOHALA COAST, Hawai'i – The Western Washington University women's golf team wrapped up its fall tournament schedule tying for 7th place at the HPU Sharks Shootout.
The two-day, 36-hole tournament was held October 25-26 at the Mauna Lani Golf North Coast. WWU finished at 35-over-par 611 with rounds of 305 (+17) and 306 (+18) to tie with Colorado Mesa. The Vikings were five strokes back of GNAC foe Simon Fraser (6th, +30, 606).
Junior Lauren F. Lee wrapped up a solid trip to Hawai'i with a second straight top-10 finish, tying for 10th place in the 78-player field at 3-over-par 147 (73-74). Lee tied for 2nd at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate and played four rounds in Hawai'i at 5-over-par.
Junior Emma Worgum recorded a top-20 finish tying for 19th place at 6-over-par 150 with matching rounds of 3-over-par 75.
Junior Kasey Maralack and freshman Lauren J. Lee tied for 39th place at 13-over-par 157.
Cal State San Marcos won the tournament at 3-over-par 579 after placing 2nd at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate, with the Cougars recording a 13-stroke victory over UT Tyler. Madison Murr of Cal State San Marcos completed the individual Hawai'i sweep winning the HPU Sharks Shootout with a 6-over-par tournament total 138 (67-71). Avery Foster of Sonoma State earned runner-up honors at 5-under-par 139 (70-69).
