BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University sophomore
Christopher Zamani has been selected as the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week.
Zamani (Sammamish, WA/Eastlake HS/Linfield Univ.) earned a top-10 finish in sixth place at last week's WWU Invitational held September 30-October 1 at Bellingham Golf & Country Club. Zamani finished the 54-hole tournament at 6-under-par 210 recording rounds of 71 (-1), 69 (-3) and 70 (-2) on the par 72 layout. WWU tied for third place in the 13 team field.
"It has been great to see Christopher play solid to start the season. This past week was more of the same posting three rounds of par or better," said WWU Director of Golf
Luke Bennett. "Christopher showed a lot of maturity in how he managed the course and that led to him having many birdie opportunities. All facets of his game were solid from beginning to end. It is great to see him playing like he can to start the season."
In three tournaments this fall, Zamani ranks second on the team and sixth in the GNAC with a scoring average of 72.6 with six rounds of par or better.
