BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University sophomore Kora Cook has been selected the GNAC Track & Field Athlete of the Week following her school-record performance in the high jump at the Spokane Invitational.

Cook (Vernal, UT) won the high jump competition in a jump off against Emy Ntekpere of Central Washington, clearing a school record 1.76m/5-9.25. Her leap enters the GNAC record book tying for third-best in conference history and is currently No. 2 in the nation with a mark well above the NCAA II provisional qualifying mark of 1.67m. Cook's clearance is the best by any WWU women's high jumper – indoors or outdoors – bettering the previous school record of 1.74m/5-8.5 set by Miranda Osadchey in 2016.

The Vikings had a phenomenal season-opening meet with 23 program top 10 marks established, five school records broken and five NCAA II provisional qualifying marks recorded.

WWU returns to action following the holiday break with competition resuming Friday, January 17 at the UW Indoor Preview at Dempsey Indoor. The Mile City event will take place on Saturday on the University of Washington campus beginning at 10 am. The complete indoor schedule is available online at WWUVikings.com.
