TURLOCK, Calif. – The No. 14 nationally-ranked Western Washington University softball team improved to 3-0 in the Tournament of Champions and notched its 20th win of the season with a 6-1 victory over Cal Poly Humboldt Saturday at Warrior Field.
After a one-hour delay due to rain and two 30-minute lightning delays, the Vikings broke through with the first runs of the game in the bottom of the 4th inning. After a leadoff walk to Mckenna Crum, Emma Andrewjeski-Ramirez singled up the middle score the first run and Ashley Jacobson followed with another run-scoring single to left field.
Andrewjeski-Ramirez added three key insurance runs with a three-run home run over the left field fence in the bottom of the 5th inning, her team-leading ninth homer of the season. Senior catcher Emily Paulson also drove in a run with a double to center field in the bottom of the 6th inning to extend the lead to 6-0.
Humboldt pushed a run across in the top of the 7th inning before the Western relief pitcher Kaiana Kong closed out the game for the Vikings 20th victory of the season. WWU improved to 20-4 on the season and is 12-0 in games played in the State of California in 2024.
Freshman starting pitcher Alli Kimball improved to 7-2 on the season scattering two hits in 5.0 scoreless innings.

The Vikings (20-4, 2-2 GNAC) returns to action tonight facing No. 19 Cal State San Marcos at 9 pm at Warrior Field. Western's trip to California concludes Sunday taking on San Francisco State at noon at Pedretti Park. TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS HISTORY
WWU is off to a 3-0 start to this year's Tournament of Champions and has played in every TOC hosted by Stanislaus State University since the first tournament in 2002. During the 21-year history of the TOC the Vikings have combined to go 69-56 as the only GNAC team to post a winning record in the tournament. WWU went 3-2 at the TOC last season and was perfect at 5-0 during the 2019 edition of the tournament. Vikings have posted a .500 or better record at the TOC in 13 of the 20 trips to Turlock, including seven of the last eight dating back to the 2014 season.
