TURLOCK, Calif. – The Western Washington University men's golf team finished the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational in a tie for 10th place in the 15-team tournament field.
WWU recorded a team 54-hole score of 15-over-par 879, completing the two-day tournament at Turlock Golf & Country Club with a 7-over-par 295. The Vikings tied with GNAC member school Montana State Billings and narrowly back of 9th-place Hawai'i Hilo (+12, 876).
Junior Matteo Polla led the Vikings for the second consecutive tournament finishing in a tie for 20th place in the 92-player field at even-par 216 with rounds of 73-70-73. Junior Ryan Ho made his spring debut placing 25th at 1-over-par 217 (70-73-74) and junior Seth King tied for 32nd at 4-over-par 220 (74-74-72) bolstered by a final-round even-par 72.
Cal State Monterey Bay took the team title at 18-under-par 846 for a two-stroke victory over second-place Chico State (-16, 848).
Tyler Ashman of Chico State took home individual medalist honors at 11-under-par 205, defeating Simon Bjorken of Cal State Monterey Bay in a playoff. Ashman turned in Tuesday's low final-round score at 8-under-par 64.
The Vikings wrap up the regular season portion of the spring schedule April 8-9 at the Palm Valley Classic at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona. The 2024 GNAC Golf Championships will be held April 22-23 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

The WWU men's golf team has an incredible streak of advancing to the NCAA Championships in each of the 24 seasons the program has competed at the NCAA Division II level dating back to the 1998-99 season. WWU placed 3rd at the 2013 national championship for the highest finish in program history and made its 10th trip to the National Championship Finals in 2023 placing 15th. The program has produced 16 NCAA All-Americans and has won 10 of 15 Great Northwest Athletic Conference championships since the tournament debuted in 2008. The Vikings have also featured the GNAC Championships individual medalist in 10 of 15 tournaments with Jordan Lee joining the elite list of conference champions in 2023 and nine GNAC Player of the Year awards.
