STANFORD & HAYWARD, Calif. – Ila Davis and Kevin McDermott made a memorable final trip to the Bay Area setting a pair of school records to highlight Friday's performances by the Vikings at the Stanford Invitational and the Mike Fanelli Track Classic.

Davis (Spokane, WA/Lewis & Clark) clocked 10:11.97 at the Stanford Invitational for the top mark in Western history, breaking the old mark of 10:13.01 set by All-American Katelyn Steen in 2015. Davis' mark is also the top mark in NCAA Division II this season and the second-best time in GNAC history. Sophomore Ashley Reeck also recorded a personal-best time in the event at the Stanford Invite with a time of 10:34.38 to rank No. 4 in WWU history.

McDermott (Port Orchard, WA/South Kitsap) became the fourth GNAC runner to go sub-14 minutes in the 5000m race, breaking his own school record with a time of 13:57.89 at the Stanford Invitational. McDermott continued his record-breaking 2023-24 season with his latest school record, betting his mark of 14:09.26 set last season at the Bryan Clay Invitational.

At the Fanelli Track Classic held at Chabot College in Hayward, the men's 4x100 relay team of Lucas Brenek, Ryan Greenwalt, Nolan Mickenham and Derek Fischer won the event with a time of 41.45 to rank No. 5 in WWU history. Greenwalt also won the 100m race in 11.106 seconds racing into a headwind, with Mickenham coming in 2nd in a near dead heat with his teammate in 11.110.

Junior sprinter Caitlyn Cheney recorded her third top-10 mark this season logging the No. time in the 400m with a mark of 57.10 finishing 3rd in the event. Cheney has previously recorded the No. 4 time in WWU history in the 100m (12.17) and No. 6 in the 200m (25.10) earlier this season.
