STANFORD & HAYWARD, Calif. – The Western Washington University Track & Field program wrapped up its spring break competition in the Bay Area Saturday at the Sanford Invitational and Mike Fanelli Track Classic.

 

Saturday's performances were highlighted by Sophie Wright and Emmy Kroontje recording top-10 marks in the 800m race at the Fanelli Classic, with Wright finishing 15th in a time of 2:12.61 to move up to No. 3 in WWU history. Kroontje also recorded a personal-best in 2:13.10 to rank No. 7 in Western history.

 

A day after setting the program record in the 3000m Steeplechase (10:11.97), Ila Davis won the women's mile at the Fanelli Classic in 4:54.37, with Ashley Reeck placing 5th in 5:03.84.

 

Mara Parks placed 3rd in the hammer throw at the Fanelli Classic with a throw of 46.74m/153-4 to set a PR and move up to No. 6 in program history.

 

Connor Palmen placed 33rd in the 800m at the Fanelli Classic ran a personal-best in 1:53.01 and Drew Weber continues his comeback from injury running 1:52.74 in the 800m at the Stanford Invitational.

 

The Vikings are right back in action next week with student-athletes expected to compete on Friday at the Doris Heritage Track Festival in Renton hosted by Seattle Pacific University and then cross the border Saturday at the Emilie Mondor Invitational in Burnaby, B.C. hosted by Simon Fraser University.
