BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Western Washington University volleyball program is proud to introduce the freshman class of 2024.
The recruiting class features an opposite-side hitter, a middle and a libero that all hail from Western Washington and will join an exciting young WWU team as redshirts in 2024. The Vikings, under 25th year head coach
Diane Flick-Williams, are coming off a promising 2023 campaign in which the youngest roster in program history finished third in the GNAC with a 12-6 conference record.

VIOLET BURCHAK » LAKE FOREST PARK, WA » SHORECREST HIGH SCHOOL » SPACENEEDLE VOLLEYBALL FOUNDATION
Burchak is an opposite-side hitter out of Lake Forest Park, Washington and Shorecrest High School. Burchak was a four-year varsity player at Shoreline and captained the Scots as a junior and senior. She won team MVP honors in 2021, 2022 and 2023 while also being named fall athlete of the year in 2022. Burchak recorded a hitting percentage of .449% as a senior in 2023, averaging 2.3 kills, 2.5 digs, 0.7 aces and 0.8 blocks per set.

"I chose WWU because of the community, the girls, and the staff. Everyone says this but as soon as I came in for my visit it felt like home"

Flick-Williams was a two-time 1
st team all-conference selection at Bellingham High School as a junior and a senior, as well as an honorable-mention all-conference selection as a sophomore. She captained the Bayhawks for three seasons, being named Team MVP as a sophomore and team offensive player of the year as a senior. Flick-Williams also ran track during her prep career, winning individual state titles in the 100m and Long Jump in 2022. Chayse is the daughter of WWU Head Volleyball coach and former Vikings standout

Flick-Williams on joining the WWU program:
"I chose the WWU volleyball program because of the location, the competitiveness in the gym, and the welcoming aspect of the team. I like an environment where you are free to learn and grow, which is what I believe this program is. I love how everyone works and how they challenge one another which in turn makes everyone in that gym elevate their game! Overall, I'm really excited to be a part of the program and I'm very thankful for this opportunity."
TEYA ZADDACK » BLAINE, WA » BLAINE HIGH SCHOOL » SIVA
Zaddack is a middle blocker coming off a successful 3-year varsity career at Blaine High school. Zaddack finished her Senior season as the team leader in hitting average and ranked in the top-15 in Whatcom County in serve receive percentage while captaining the Borderites and being named team MVP. Zaddack also lettered also lettered in softball and bowling during her prep career, captaining the bowling team as a junior and senior.
Zaddack on joining the WWU program:
"I chose WWU because of the family dynamics of the team, it was very easy to get along and fit in with the girls. I also like the level of play and competitiveness of the team, as well as being close to home and having family live nearby."
