MOSCOW, Idaho – Freshman Kaden Miller had an impressive second day in the men's heptathlon to place third at the Lauren McCluskey Memorial Open inside the Kibbie Dome.
Miller, a true freshman from Cashmere, Washington, made his WWU debut in style scoring 4,148 points to rank No. 8 in program history. Miller jumped up five spots in the standings during the second day of the competition, highlighted by a 5th-place finish in the 60m hurdles (8.88), 5th-place finish in the pole vault (3.42m/11-2.5) and 6th place in the 1,000m run (3:02.82).
Sophomore Owen Windrope (6th place, 3,958) and freshman Joey Brown (7th place, 3,784) also competed for the Vikings during the two-day event.
Sophomore Sydney Mohlman was part of the pole vault competition but did not clear any of her three attempts at 3.46m/11-4.25.
The Vikings return to action next weekend with a full squad of competitors expected to compete in the UW Invitational January 31 & February 1 at Dempsey Indoor on the University of Washington campus in Seattle. The complete indoor schedule is available online at WWUVikings.com.
