HAYWARD, Calif. – Led by a tie for first place from senior Lauren F. Lee, the Western Washington University women's golf team capped a solid fall tournament schedule placing fourth out of 15 teams at the East Bay Fall Invitational.

The Vikings played 54 holes in this two-day event at TPC at Stonebrae, turning in a three-round team score of 51-over-par 915. WWU's third-round score of 8-over-par 296 was the second-lowest team round on Tuesday. Cal State San Marcos won the tournament at 32-over-par, Simon Fraser was runner-up at 42-over-par and Cal State LA finished just ahead of the Vikings at 49-over-par.

"I am really pleased with our last event of the fall. The team score improved every round and we saved our best for last," said WWU Director of Golf Luke Bennett. "A solid team effort to complete a great three-tournament fall schedule for the Vikings."

The Vikings entered the tournament ranked 38th in the national Scoreboard rankings and 10th in the tough West Region.

Lee tied for individual medalist honors with Cal State East Bay's Carlota Eroles at 3-under-par 213. Lee carded rounds of 2-over-par 74, 3-under-par 69 and 2-under-par 70 to earn her first collegiate victory. Dating back to last season's West Regional, Lee has recorded a round of par or better in eight of her last 12 rounds. In addition to Lee's tie for first place at the East Bay Invite, she also placed 3rd at the season-opening SMU Grisham Memorial and 12th at the West  Regional Preview.

"Lauren played solid all tournament. She makes this game look easy," said Bennett. "She made 11 birdies, had one eagle and nothing worse than a bogey on a very tough course. Stellar golf from Lauren."

Freshman Carly Ikei tied for 15th place in the 82-player field at 12-over-par 228, marking her third top 20 finish to begin her collegiate career. The Gig Harbor native also tied for 3rd at the SMU Grisham Memorial and 19th at the Regional Preview.

"Another great event by Carly, who has not played like a freshman to start her career," said Bennett. "She placed in the top 20 in all three fall events. This week was a very solid showing for her on a challenging course."

Senior Kasey Maralack turned in a 2-over-par 74 Tuesday for her low round as a Viking moving up to finish in a tie for 24th place at 16-over-par 332.

"Really great to see Kasey battle back after her first round. Lots of quality golf in her final two rounds to post a great finish," added Bennett.

Sophomore Jadyn Gracie tied for 50th place at 31-over-par, finishing with a season-low 4-over-par 76, and junior Shannon Berry tied for 66th place at 41-over-par.
