WWU returns to Carver Gym to host Alaska schools next week

LACEY, Wash. – The No. 19 nationally ranked Western Washington University volleyball team had its 11-match winning streak snapped in a 3-0 loss Saturday afternoon at Saint Martin's University inside Marcus Pavilion.

WWU dropped to 11-2 overall and 5-1 in GNAC play marking the first loss since opening day of the 2025 season on September 4. Game scores were 25-15, 25-14, 25-17 in favor of the Saints (9-4, 2-3 GNAC).

Senior outside hitter Devyn Oestreich led the Vikings with a 10-kill, 12-dig double-double adding one service ace for 11.0 points. Junior outside hitter Delaney Speer tallied 10 kills and senior Adele Holland racked up 13 assists.

WWU had a trio of true freshman play in the match due to a few players being unavailable, with middle Brooke Berglund, opposite Maren Stuber and defensive specialist Dani Turcinec all making their collegiate debuts.

The Saints were fueled by a .356 team hitting percentage and out-blocked the Vikings 13.0-to-2.0. Emmy Hansen led the Saints with 12 kills and four blocks, followed by nine kills from Kingsley Mason and eight kills and 15 digs by Emily Garten.
