RENO, Nev. – Western Washington University senior All-American
Bec Bennett opened the 2025-26 Indoor Track & Field season with a solid performance in her marquee 400m event at the Silver State Invitational on Saturday.
Bennett finished third in a strong field making two quick laps around the Reno-Sparks Convention Center track for a time of 55.08. The mark is converted to 55.19 due to running at altitude, which is still well below the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark of 56.50. Through the first official week of the indoor season Bennett's mark ranks second in NCAA II behind the 54.45 ran by Melanie Roland of Northwest Missouri State.
The Australian native set the WWU indoor record last season in 54.03 while placing 7th at the 2024 NCAA II Indoor Championships in Indianapolis to earn First Team All-America honors.
