INDIANAPOLIS – Four shiny new trophies and All-America awards are headed back to Bellingham after the WWU women's distance medley relay team placed 7th at the 2025 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship.
The WWU quartet finished 7th in a time of 11:30.44 to earn one of the eight spots on the podium to achieve First Team All-America honors.
The Vikings DMR consisted of senior
Sophie Wright running the first leg (1200m), followed by junior
Bec Bennett in the 400m, junior
Emmy Kroontje in the 800m and senior
Ila Davis running the final leg (1600m). WWU was just three seconds behind 6th-place Lee and over five seconds better than 8th-place Ashland to leave little doubt of the team earning the trip to the podium.
WWU's DMR entered the meet seeded 9th out of 12 teams with a top time during the season of 11:26.85 to set the school record. Friday's performance marked the 21st DMR squad from the GNAC to earn All-America honors and the second in WWU history joining the 2010 relay squad of Courtney Olsen, Megan O'Connell, Rachael Johnson and Sarah Porter.
Colorado State-Pueblo won the DMR title with a time of 11:14.56, edging second-place Pittsburg State by just under five seconds.
