COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho – The Western Washington University men's golf team made a charge up the leaderboard midway through Tuesday's final round of the GNAC Championships, but fell short of repeating as conference champions placing 2nd at the two-day tournament held at the Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course.
Midway through Tuesday's final round the Vikings closed to within four strokes of eventual champion Simon Fraser, but WWU ended up 10 strokes back of the Red Leafs to finish in 2nd place at the two-day, 54-hole tournament. The Vikings fired a final round team score of 2-under-par 282 on the par 71 layout on the shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene and totaled 17-over-par 869 across the three rounds.
