BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University junior rowing student-athlete
Mia Marie Knipe is a repeat selection as an Academic All-American earning second-team honors on the 2025 At-Large team selected by College Sports Communicators.
Knipe (Boise, Idaho) was a third-team selection in 2024 when she was also selected as the CRCA Division II Rower of the Year while leading the Vikings to the NCAA National Championship. In 2025 Knipe was instrumental in leading Western to a third-place finish at nationals with the Varsity 8+ boat earning a silver medal.
The Polymer Materials Engineering major carries a cumulative 3.75 GPA into her senior year at WWU. In addition to earning Academic All-America honors, Knipe was a GNAC Academic All-Star, a CRCA Scholar Athlete and part of the Academic At-Large All-District team.
In competition, Knipe was equally as impressive earning CRCA All-America honors for the second consecutive season and was an All-GNAC First Team rower.
Knipe joins softball third baseman
Maleah Andrews as WWU student-athletes to earn Academic All-America honors in 2024-25 and becomes the third student-athlete in WWU Athletics history to earn multiple Academic All-America awards joining Erik Totten (Football, 2000-01) and Audrey Coon (Rowing, 2008-09).
This is the third consecutive season a WWU women's rower has earned Academic All-America honors with Clarice Ruhlin-Hicks (2023), Knipe and
Taylor Wall (2024) and Knipe (2025) putting their name on the elite list of Viking
Academic All-Americans.
