BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Western Washington University volleyball program had three student-athletes selected to the 2025 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Preseason All-Conference Team.
Senior pin hitter Devyn Oestreich (pronounced ostrich – like the animal) earned the GNAC Preseason Player of the Year award with junior middle Emily Vossenkuhl and junior pin hitter Delaney Speer joining Oestreich on the preseason all-conference team.
WWU's three selections tied Simon Fraser for the most players earning honors on the 14-player preseason all-conference team voted on by the league's 10 head coaches. Central Washington and Alaska Fairbanks both had two selections. The Vikings checked in tied for 3rd place in the GNAC Preseason Coaches Poll announced Tuesday.
Oestreich (Olympia, WA/Capital HS) enters her senior season at Western after earning First Team All-GNAC honors each of the last two seasons. The outside hitter was among the GNAC leaders with 13 double-doubles in 2024, finishing the season ranking 9th in the conference with 2.80 kills per set and 7th with 3.73 digs per set. In three seasons on the court for the Vikings, Oestreich has appeared in 63 matches while averaging 2.60 kills, 3.43 digs and 3.22 points per set while tallying 80 service aces.
Speer (Maple Valley, WA/Tahoma HS) earned honorable mention All-GNAC honors as a sophomore in 2024 averaging 3.26 digs and 2.52 kills per set. Her 3.01 points per set trailed only Oestreich for the team lead last season. She was also among GNAC statistical leaders, ranking 11th in the league in digs per set and 13th in kills per set. In two seasons Speer has totaled 417 kills and 538 digs, while adding 51 service aces and averaging 2.82 points per set.
Vossenkuhl (Ridgefield, WA/Ridgefield HS) has earned a pair of honorable mention All-GNAC awards in her first two seasons of collegiate action. The middle blocker has been a force in the middle averaging 1.09 blocks per set in 50 career matches, a mark that ranks 12th in program history. Last season Voss averaged 1.01 blocks per set to rank 10th in the GNAC while also contributing 1.78 kills per set on a .257 hitting percentage.
