BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University senior outside hitter Devyn Oestreich has been selected as the GNAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week following the opening week of the 2025 season.
 
Oestreich (Olympia, WA/Capital HS) put together a sterling performance in the WWU Invitational, earning Tournament MVP honors while helping lead the Vikings to a 2-1 record against a stacked field of nationally ranked opponents.
 
The senior recorded a double-double (kills/digs) in all three matches, averaging 5.08 kills, 3.42 digs and 5.33 points per set. She broke her career high in a single match in kills twice, first notching 20 kills in the season-opener vs. No. 11 Cal Poly Pomona and shattering that mark on Saturday with 23 kills vs. No. 4 San Francisco State. Across the three matches Oestreich recorded 61 kills and 41 digs, extending her string of consecutive double-doubles dating back to last season to nine straight.
 
The Preseason GNAC Player of the Year selection has now earned four conference Player of the Week honors dating back to the 2023 season, tying for eighth-most in program history.
 
In addition to Oestreich (pronounced like the animal) earning All-Tournament honors, junior outside hitter Delaney Speer and junior libero Finnley Claeys were selected to the WWU Invitational All-Tournament Team.
 
The Vikings went 2-1 to open the season defeating No. 3 St. Cloud State and No. 4 San Francisco State, while dropping a four-set match to No. 11 Cal Poly Pomona. WWU takes its great start to the season to Hawai'i playing in four matches this weekend (September 11-13) at the Aloha State Showdown in Honolulu.
