BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Simon Fraser University men's soccer team scored four unanswered goals to defeat Western Washington University 4-2 Thursday evening in GNAC play on Terry Fox Field at SFU Stadium.

The Vikings dropped to 6-5-2 overall and 1-3-1 in conference play with their second consecutive loss. After opening the season with four consecutive wins rising to No. 13 in the national rankings, the Vikings are 2-5-2 over the last nine games. SFU remains in first place in the GNAC standings with an undefeated 3-0-2 mark in conference games, improving to 4-2-5 overall.

The Vikings got off to a dream start building a 2-0 lead in the first 15 minutes of action. After an early SFU shot, the Vikings found the back of the net in the second minute when Tommy Carroll got behind the defense and buried his shot in front of the goal off a perfectly-placed cross from Jose Perez.

WWU doubled its lead to 2-0 at the 14:39 mark when Surrey native Landon Schulze made a run into the box and laid a pass off to Lunden Fenster who got a quick shot off inside the six-yard box for his fifth goal of the season and second in as many games.

In the blink-of-an-eye the Red Leafs leveled the score at 2-2 with a pair of goals separated by 63 seconds in the 27th and 28th minutes. Danile James Jackson scored the first goal off cross from Lachlan Macgowan that was headed home near the far post. Macgowan assisted on the equalizer with Kundalini Bien-Aimé Dominique placing his shot from the top of the 18-yard box under the crossbar.

SFU went ahead 3-2 with under three minutes left in the first half on a penalty kick goal by Jackson. After a team save by the Vikings with Alex Martinez clearing the ball off the line, goalkeeper Quinn Sappington was called for a foul in the box setting up the converted PK by Jackson for the first-half brace.

Jackson completed the hat trick with another penalty kick in the 59th minute, confidently placing his Panenka-style into the top of the netting to give SFU the 4-2 lead (with four unanswered goals).

SFU held a commanding 20-6 advantage in total shots and holding a 9-3 lead in shots on goal.

The Vikings made their final trip to Burnaby Mountain with Simon Fraser departing the NCAA and GNAC after the 2026 season to play in Canadian U Sports.
