ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Western Washington University women's soccer team resumed its spring tournament schedule placing fifth out of 19 teams at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout.

WWU completed the two-day, 36-hole tournament at 20-over-par 596 with rounds of 300 (+12) and 296 (+8) on the par 72, 5,803-yard Corica Park Golf Course. The Vikings moved up the leaderboard three spots during Tuesday's final round recording the fifth-lowest team round on the final day.

The Vikings entered their second spring tournament listed No. 50 in the NCAA Division II Clippd rankings (No. 13 in West Region), finishing ahead of No. 24 Colorado State Pueblo, No. 47 Cal State Monterey Bay and No. 38 Hawai'i Pacific.

WWU was led individually by senior Lauren F. Lee, who tied for 18th place in the 102-player field. Lee finished at 2-over-par 146 with rounds of 75 (+3) and 71 (-1) to record her fourth top 20 finish in five tournaments in 2025-26.

Sophomore Jadyn Gracie had her best tournament performance as a Viking also earning a top 20 finish at 3-over-par 147. Gracie tied for 20th place with a first-round 2-over-par 74 and helped lead the strong team finish with a 1-over-par 73 on Tuesday. Freshman Carly Ikei (+7, 76-75=151) tied for 33rd place and senior Kasey Maralack (+8, 75-77=152) tied for 36th.

"After an undesirable start to the tournament, the ladies were able to show grit and steadily climbed the ladder to a 5th place finish out of 19 teams," said assistant coach Taya Battistella. "They are starting to take control of their games and I think they will continue to climb the ranks as the season continues."

Cal State San Marcos earned the tournament win in convincing fashion at 13-under-par 563 for a 10-stroke win over Point Loma (-3, 573). Cal State LA (+8, 584), Simon Fraser (+12, 588) and WWU rounded out the top five in the 19-team tournament hosted by Cal State LA.

Zoe Garcia of Seattle Pacific and Avery Foster of Cal State San Marcos tied for individual medalist honors at 8-under-par 136.
