RENO, Nev. – The Western Washington University sprint crew made a statement over the weekend at the Wolf Pack Classic setting four school records at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

The sprint crew numbered only 10 student-athletes in competition, but the group made an impact setting nine program top 10 marks and recorded five NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks.

Women's 4x400 Relay Sets WWU Record:

For the second consecutive week the foursome of freshman Casie Kleine, freshman Jayda Darroch, junior Kennedy Cook and senior Bec Bennett set the school record in the 4x400 relay, clocking a time of 3:42.58 to break their own school record of 3:44.63 set at the UW Invite. Western finished third in the race behind San Diego State (3:37.75) and meet host Nevada (3:38.24). The mark moves up one spot into No. 3 in GNAC history and is currently the No. 2 time in the nation with an elevation-converted time of 3:43.02.

Men's 4x400 Relay Goes Even Faster:

Featuring a slightly different lineup due to an injury, the men's 4x400 relay team broke the program and GNAC record running a winning time of 3:11.38. Senior Lucas Brenek – who set the indoor school record in the 400m last week – led off the relay, followed by sophomore Evin Ford, junior Maurice Woodring and freshman Jackson Moffitt. The foursome bettered the previous record of 3:11.92 set at the UW Preview on January 16. The mark is currently ranked No. 11 in the nation with an elevation-converted time of 3:11.82.

Bennett Breaks Own 200m and 400m Record:

Senior Bec Bennett had a memorable meet taking part of three school records in her second trip to Reno this season, breaking her own records in the 400m and 200m races, and running the final leg of the school-record 4x400 relay. Bennett placed third in the women's 400m dash running an indoor PR time of 53.47 to break her own school record in the event. Bennett ran the first sub-54-second 400 in program history to move up to No. 2 in GNAC history with the current No. 3 time in the nation. Bennett also broke her own school record in the 200m running an indoor PR time of 24.39, breaking the previous mark of 24.50 set at the GNAC Championships last season.

Freshman Dominique Sets 200m Record:

Sophomore Eliyah Dominique broke the WWU indoor record in the 200m with a time of 21.59 to place out of 59 competitors. The Fairbanks, Alaska native and transfer from Lane Community College broke the 11-year-old record of 21.63 set by former All-American Alex Donigian in 2015. Dominique also ran 6.99 in the 60m dash, just off his PR of 6.98 set at the UW Invite last weekend.

Four Vikings Set PR in 400m:

All four runners in in the women's 400m set personal-best marks for program top-10 marks. Senior Bec Bennett broke her own record running 53.47, junior Kennedy Cook improved her No. 2 mark to 55.36, freshman Casie Kleine ran 57.09 for the No. 4 mark and sophomore Jayda Darroch set her indoor PR in 57.44 for the No. 6 time in program history.

Herron Represents Hurdles Crew Making Finals:

Sophomore Corbin Herron qualified for the finals in the 60m hurdles running 8.23 in the prelims and placed third in the finals with a time of 8.18. Just a week ago Herron set a PR in the event placing second at the UW Invite in 8.16, the No. 3 mark in program history and No. 6 in GNAC history.
