BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Western Washington University men's 4x400 relay team broke the program and GNAC record Friday at the Wolf Pack Classic to earn the conference Men's Track Athletes of the Week honor.
Senior
Lucas Brenek, sophomore
Evin Ford, junior
Maurice Woodring and freshman
Jackson Moffitt clocked a time of 3:11.38 to win the event held in Reno, Nevada. The Vikings topped the 15-team field in the relay well in front of second-place Sacramento State (3:13.73).
Brenek joined the relay crew due to an injury to normal member
Isaac Ford, with the slightly altered lineup breaking the previous GNAC and WWU record of 3:11.92 set at the UW Preview in January. The current time ranks No. 11 on the NCAA Division II national performance list.
"Coach Dena Birade has really been pushing our 400m group. They have some lofty goals and they're well on their way to accomplishing them," said WWU head coach
Ben Stensland. "They have been trending positively this indoor season and will be ready to do something special at the GNAC Championships."
The Vikings will send a small contingent of student-athletes to compete in the Husky Classic Friday and Saturday at Dempsey Indoor in Seattle, with the 2026 GNAC Indoor Championships next Monday-Tuesday at The Podium in Spokane.
