VISTA, Calif. – Western Washington University senior Lauren F. Lee won individual medalist honors at the Fujikura Invitational with the 54-hole event played Monday and Tuesday at Shadowridge Golf Club.
Lee turned in a tournament score of 5-over-par 221 with scores of 75 (+3), 71 (-1) and 75 (+3) on the 6,194-yard par 72 layout. Lee finished the 54-hole competition tied with Carmella Carlisi at 5-over-par, forcing a playoff between the two players. Lee recorded a par on No. 18 and Carlisi made bogey to award Lee her second victory of the season. Lee tied for 5th in the tournament field with eight birdies.
As a team the Vikings placed 11th out of 13 teams with a score of 80-over-par 944. Freshman Carly Ikei (T44th, +21) and sophomore Jadyn Gracie (T49th, +25) finished in the top 50 in the 74-player field.
Tournament host Cal State San Marcos won the team title at 17-over-par 881 for an 18-stroke victory over second-place Simon Fraser.

The Vikings continue the spring season March 23-24 competing in The Big Freeze hosted by Dominican University at Richmond Golf Club in Richmond, California. WWU has two regular-season tournaments remaining prior to competing in the GNAC Championships April 20-22 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
