TURLOCK, Calif. – Led by another top 10 finish from junior Conrad Brown, the Western Washington University men's golf team wrapped up the regular season with a 4th-place finish at the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational.

 

WWU completed the two-day, 54-hole tournament at Turlock Golf & Country Club with a team score of 21-over-par 873, bolstered by a standout second-round score of 1-over-par 285. The Vikings, ranked No. 1 in the West Region and No. 22 in the Clipped national rankings, now turn their attention to the postseason with the GNAC Championships held next week in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

 

Brown tied for 6th place in the 67-player field at even-par 213 with consistent rounds of even-par 71, 1-under-par 70 and 1-over-par 72. In eight tournaments this season, Brown has finished in the top 10 seven times and heads into the GNAC Championships with the top scoring average in the conference.

 

Junior Rex Wilson narrowly missed the top 20 tying for 21st place at 7-over-par 220 (78-70-72) and senior captain Peter Dionne-Yahr tied for 31st place at 9-over-par 222 (70-75-77).

 

Cal State San Bernardino and Chico State tied for team medalist honors at 8-under-par 844, with San Bernardino winning on a one-hole playoff for the tournament title. Cal State Monterey Bay edged the Vikings for third place in the team standings at 17-over-par 869.

 

Vineet Vallamsetty of Chico State won individual medalist honors finishing at 5-under-par 208 (76-67-65), with his final round of 6-under-par 65 enough to overtake runner-up Kamron Hopson of Cal State San Bernardino (-4, 209) by one stroke. Naoki Easterday (Chico State) and Peyton Hendricks (Cal State East Bay) tied for 3rd place at 2-under-par 211.

The Vikings compete in the 2026 GNAC Golf Championships next week, April 20-22, at the Coeur d'Alene Golf Resort in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The tournament will feature a new format in 2026 with the 54-hole event played over three days instead of two. WWU is an 11-time winner of the event in the 17-year history of the tournament.
