BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University All-American third baseman
Maleah Andrews has earned national recognition being selected as the Louisville Slugger/NFCA D2 Player of the Week for games played April 6-12.
Andrews earned the honor after an incredible performance at the plate in the four-game road series at Montana State Billings where she went 9-for-11 (.818) with six runs scored, one double, three home runs and seven RBI. The junior reached base safely in 14 of 16 plate appearances also drawing four walks and one hit-by-pitch for a .875 on-base percentage.
Andrews becomes the first Viking to earn the NFCA National Player (or pitcher) of the Week award since Anna Kasner in May 2021. She is the first position player to earn the National Player of the Week honor since former All-American first baseman Emily Benson in April 2019.
For the season Andrews ranks third in the GNAC batting .439 (47-for-107), first in slugging percentage (.841), first in OPS (1.408) and second in on-base percentage (.567). She has a league-best 15 doubles, hit eight home runs (2nd in GNAC) and scored 41 runs (2nd in GNAC).
A three-year starter for the Vikings, Andrews has combined to bat .416 (208-for-500) in 161 games with 162 runs scored, 56 doubles, 19 home runs and 112 RBI. She was a consensus First Team All-American and GNAC co-Player of the Year in 2025.
UP NEXT FOR THE VIKS
The Vikings are 22-15 overall and in third place in the GNAC with an 8-4 record through the first half of conference play. WWU remains on the road this weekend with a four-game series at Simon Fraser University beginning Friday at 2 pm at Beedie Field in Burnaby, B.C.
