BOULDER CITY, Nev. – A memorable and historic 2025-26 season came to a close for the Western Washington University men's golf team on Wednesday afternoon at Boulder Creek Golf Course, as the Vikings wrapped up the third and final round of stroke play at the 2026 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships.
The Vikings shot a team total of 291 in Wednesday's final round, wrapping up the three-day tournament with a total of 9-over-par 873 (292-290-291) on the par 72, 7,595-yard layout. WWU finished in a tie for 16th place among the field of 20 teams competing at the national championship just outside of Las Vegas.
WWU qualified for nationals by winning the West/South Central Super Regional, highlighting a season that included also included winning the program's 12th GNAC title. The Vikings were making their 11th trip to the national championships since joining the NCAA level in 1999 and 25th overall trip to the national tournament in program history. Western has qualified for the NCAA regional tournament 27th consecutive seasons, marking each year competing in the NCAA.
"It's sad to see such a great season come to an end, but today was one of those days where we didn't quite have it," said WWU Director of Golf Luke Bennett. "It happens more often than not in golf, and unfortunately today wasn't our day. This team of guys has accomplished so much this year. It was an honor to be along for the ride with them."

The Vikings were led individually by junior Christopher Zamani tying for 51st place in the 108-player field at 1-over-par 217, turning in rounds of 70 (-2), 74 (+2) and 73 (+1) in the 54-hole competition. After a slow start in Wednesday's final round, Zamani played his final 14 holes of the tournament at 2-under-par with 12 pars and a pair of birdies.
Senior captain Peter Dionne-Yahr fired an even-par 72 in the final round to cap his collegiate career tying for 76th place at 6-over-par 222 (73-77-72). Dionne-Yahr capped his WWU career playing in his 97th career round and was a three-time all-conference performer.
"It has meant everything to me," said Dionne-Yahr, who began his career at WWU in the fall of 2022. "Walking down the last fairway on 18 – it was a little emotional because coach and I were reminiscing on all the good times. It was so much fun, and I couldn't have done it without these guys. This team is amazing. They're all so young and they're going to have almost the exact same team next year. They are just going to be even better, and I am just so glad to have been part of this team. It was a lot of fun."
Added Bennett on Dionne-Yahr's time in the program "From the moment Peter walked through the doors at Western he has been a standout as a player, teammate and captain. He has had a great career and was always someone I could trust and rely on. He has definitely left his mark on WWU golf."
Junior Conrad Brown finished his All-America junior campaign tying for 54th place at 2-over-par 218. Brown, who was announced as a PING First Team All-American following the final round, fired the Vikings low round of the tournament with a 3-under-par 69 in the second round. With the final tournament of the season in the books, Brown finished with a stroke average of 70.78 entering the record books as the second-best season in the history of the conference.
"It has been so much fun to go through this year with amazing teammates and coaches," said Brown, who last week was announced as one of five finalists for the Jack Nicklaus award that goes to NCAA Division II's top individual player. "Every second has been so much fun and so well worth it."
Sophomore Rex Wilson bounced back from his opening-round uncharacteristic 7-over-par 79 to fire even-par rounds of 72 on Tuesday and Wednesday. Wilson placed 80th overall at 7-over-par 223 while playing his final 40 holes of the championship at even par.
Junior Nick Ennis tied for 85th place at 9-over-par 225 (76-75-74), showing a one-stroke improvement with each round he played on the Desert Hawk and Coyote Run 9-hole layouts that formed the championship course. Ennis completed his first national championship experience with a 2-over-par 74 in the final round highlighted by four birdies.
Octavio Laurent of USC Beaufort, who was competing as an individual, shot a 17-under-par 199 (70-66-63) to win the national championship individual title by four strokes ahead of runner-up Lance Christensen Jr. of Colorado Christian.
The top eight teams in the standings advanced to match play to determine the team national champion with competition held Thursday and Friday. Florida Southern emerged as the top team during the stroke-play portion of the tournament firing a three-round total of 35-under-par 829 (280-278-271), eight strokes in front of second-place Missouri-St. Louis (-27, 837).
