Viking Ink 11 New Players for Upcoming 2026 Season

Recruiting class features 10 transfers and one high school player set to debut in 2026

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University men's soccer head coach Greg Brisbon officially announced an 11-player recruiting class that will debut during the upcoming 2026 fall season.

 

The class features 10 transfers and one high school player, with all hailing from the Northwest. The makeup of the class of 2026 includes four forwards, three midfielders and four defenders.

 

Nine of the players hail from the junior college ranks out of the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) with three players each from Peninsula College (Port Angeles) and Columbia Basin College (Kennewick), and two from Everett Community College. Four of the players were prep teammates at Davis High School in Yakima.

 

The class also features a standout high school player from West Linn, Oregon and a transfer from the University of Portland that returns to the pitch after a few years out of soccer.

BRUNO CASCANTE  »  Defender  »  Federal Way, WA  »  Bellevue College

Cascante is a 5-11 Defender transferring from Bellevue College where he spent the last two seasons. Cascante appeared in 27 games for the Bulldogs starting 26. Cascante tallied three goals and one assist, was named First Team All-North NWAC in 2025 as well as Academic All-Star in 2024. Cascante played his prep career at Federal Way High School where he served as team captain and helped lead the team to a 4A Washington State Tournament appearance. Cascante played his club career with Pac NW Soccer Club and United Sports FC serving as a team captain for the latter.

EDWIN DIAZ  »  Midfielder  »  Yakima, WA  »  Peninsula College

Diaz is a 5-5 central midfielder transferring from Peninsula College where he has spent the last two seasons. Diaz appeared in 32 games for the Pirates starting 22. He recorded 26 total points via 8 goals and 11 assists. Diaz was a member of Peninsula College's NWAC Championship in 2024 and named First Team All-North NWAC in 2025. Diaz played his prep career at Davis High School in Yakima and his club career with the Central Washington Sounders. Davis High School made two appearances in the WIAA Tournament with Diaz on the team reaching the semifinal round in 2023.

"I chose WWU because it gives me the chance to compete at a high level while continuing to grow academically and personally. Soccer has always pushed me to be better, and I felt that WWU was the right environment to develop as both a player and a student. I'm excited to represent the program and be part of a competitive team culture."

Fenster is a 5-10 Midfielder from Bothell and transferring to the Vikings after two seasons with Everett Community College. Fenster appeared in 30 games for the Trojans starting 23. He recorded 28 total points on 8 goals and 12 assists and was named Second Team All-North NWAC in 2024 and 2025. Fenster played his prep career at Inglemoor High School where he served as a team captain throughout his career. With Inglemoor he was named First Team All-Conference in 2024 and Second Team All-Conference in 2023. Fenster played club for Snohomish United ECNL where he served as team captain for four seasons. With Snohomish United he was named Second Team All-Conference in 2019 & 2020.

WESLEY FRANKEL  »  Forward/Midfielder  »  Portland, OR  »  University of Portland

Frankel is a 5-10 Forward/Midfielder originally hailing from Vancouver and currently resides in Portland. Frankel previously played for the University of Portland in 2021-22 and joins the Vikings as a junior with two years of eligibility. With the Pilots, Frankel appeared in 13 games starting five and recording 592 minutes. He tallied three goals on nine total shots and had an assist in his time with the Pilots. Two of his goals were game-winners, including a win over Seattle U in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Frankel attended Lake Washington and Camas High School during his prep career and played for Crossfire Premier during his club career.

 

Frankel on joining the WWU program:

"I was born in the Pacific Northwest and have always had an appreciation for the area. I'm excited about the prospect of playing soccer in college, and doing so in my home state makes it that much more special."

 

NOE GARFIAS  »  Midfielder  »  Yakima, WA  »  Peninsula College

Garfias is a 5-10 Midfielder from Yakima transferring from Peninsula College where he spent the last two seasons. Garfias appeared in 31 games starting 23 for the Pirates. He tallied one goal and had eight assists across his two seasons. Garfias was part of Peninsula College's NWAC Championship in 2024 and named Second Team All-North NWAC in 2024. Garfias played his prep career at Davis High School and his club career with the Central Washington Sounders. Davis High School made two appearances in the WIAA State Tournament reaching the Final Four in 2023.

 

JORGE IBARRA  »  Defender  »  Yakima, WA  »  Columbia Basin College

Ibarra is a 6-0 defender transferring from Columbia Basin College. With the Hawks, Ibarra appeared in 27 games and started 24. He started all 15 games as a sophomore in 2025, playing in 90 or more minutes in all but four games. He was a valuable member of the Hawks defense that were runners-up in the NWAC Championship. He was honored with First team All-East NWAC in 2025. Ibarra played his prep career at Davis High School in Yakima and spent his club career at Sozo FC. Davis made two appearances in the WIAA State Championships reaching the semifinals in 2023.

ALEX MARTINEZ  »  Forward/Winger  »  Pasco, WA  »  Columbia Basin College

Martinez is a 5-10 forward/winger transfer from Columbia Basin College. With the Hawks, Martinez appeared in 30 games starting 21 over his two-year junior college career. He recorded 49 total points on 17 goals and 15 assists. Martinez was a two-time First Team All-East NWAC in both 2024 and 2025. He played his prep career at Pasco High School appearing in the 3A Washington State Tournament three times with two appearances in the semifinals. Martinez played club soccer for Three River Soccer Club.

ILYA MOHOV  »  Defender  »  Edmonds, WA  »  Everett Community College

Mohov is a 6-2 Defender from Edmonds and a transfer from Everett Community College with two years of eligibility remaining. Mohov spent one season with the Trojans appearing in 12 games and starting seven. Before his time in Everett, Mohov also played at Northwest University in Kirkland where he appeared in 16 games making five starts. He spent his prep career at Shorewood High School, making two appearances in the 3A Washington State Tournament and was named to First Team All-Conference. Mohov played club for Seattle United FC.

"WWU have been a very successful and competitive side at the NCAA level in the Pacific Northwest. The intensity at practice and the desire to be better every day is what drew me to be a part of the program. I look forward to growing into the player Coach Brison can make me."

 

ZANDER MORRIS  »  Defender  »  West Linn, OR  »  West Linn High School

Morris is a 6-1 left footed freshman defender out of West Linn High School. He was a four-year varsity letterwinner with the lions as well as severing as team captain for three seasons. Morris had an award-laden prep career being honored as First Team defender All-League in his senior season as well as Second Team defender All-Oregon and Second Team defender All-League in his junior season recording 8 goals and 7 assists. West Linn finished 14-2-2 in 2025, making the 6A Oregon State Tournament reaching the semifinal round on penalty kicks. Morris played his club soccer for Oregon Premier FC ECNL, where he also served as team captain. With Oregon Premier FC, Morris won back-to-back state championships (2024 and 2025) as well as made USYS Regional and National appearances. Morris was also a member of West Linn High School's Football team as their kicker and named First Team All-Conference and First Team All-Oregon in his senior season.

"I chose WWU because when I visited I had a great time. I was able to train with the team and enjoyed the way the team played and I fit right in. The campus is beautiful and it felt like home."

 

EZRAH OCHOA  »  Forward  »  Yakima, WA  »  Peninsula College

Ochoa is a 5-8 forward/winger transferring from Peninsula College and hailing from Yakima. Ochoa spent the last two seasons with PC in Port Angeles appearing in 24 games starting 18. He had a standout freshman season recording 14 goals and seven assists being honored with First Team All-North NWAC Honors and being named NWAC Tournament MVP after the Pirates win the NWAC Championship. Ochoa played his prep career at Davis High School and his club career for the Central Washington Sounders. Davis High School made two appearances in the WIAA State Tournament reaching the semifinal round in 2023.

RUDY SILVA  »  Forward  »  Yakima, WA  »  Columbia Basin College

Silva is a 6-2 forward transfer from Columbia Basin College. With the Hawks, Silva appeared in 25 games starting 11 during his two-year junior college career. He recorded 23 total points on 8 goals and 7 assists and earned Second Team All-East NWAC honors in 2025. A native of Tieton, Silva played his prep career at Highland High School and club with Central Washington Sounders.
