Rowing to Hold Tryout Informational Meeting on September 25

WWU students interested in joining the women’s rowing program are encouraged to attend meeting

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Western Washington University women's rowing program has announced that the informational meeting for prospective new team members for the 2026-27 season will be held on Friday, September 25 in Room 104 of the Carver Academic Facility.
 
All interested prospective student-athletes will need to attend this meeting. Tryouts will be held the following two weeks.

  • NO Rowing Experience is necessary
  • Meeting is INFORMATIONAL
  • Actual tryouts will commence the following two weeks

The 10-time national championship program is looking for fit, hardworking, self-starting athletes that enjoy extreme training. Our program prides itself on being exclusively walk-on. It is that chemistry that has propelled us to be one of the nation's finest. The program is all inclusive and all students with athletic ability are encouraged to attend the informational meeting.

ABOUT WWU ROWING
WWU Rowing is one of the elite collegiate rowing programs in the country across all divisions, having won ten NCAA Division II National Championships. The Vikings won the 2026 NCAA II National title, 2024 NCAA II National title, the 2017 title, placed 2nd in 2018, 3rd in 2019 and runner-up in 2022. WWU has competed in the NCAA Championships in 22 of the 24 NCAA Division II national regattas, taking home the gold (10 times), silver (5 times) and bronze (6) medal 21 times in the 24 years the NCAA Division II team title has been awarded, and reached the podium 21 times. Western won seven consecutive DII national championships from 2005-2011.
