BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Due to heavy overnight rain that has continued through Tuesday morning and unplayable course conditions, the final round of the 2026 WWU Men's Golf Invitational has been canceled.

 

The planned two-day, 54-hole tournament is complete after Monday's 36 holes of play, with the Western Washington winning its annual home tournament at Bellingham Golf & Country Club.

 

The Vikings turned in a team score of 14-under-par 562 – bolstered by a scorching second round of 13-under-par 275 – to earn the program's 18th victory in the 54-year history of the event. Western won the WWU Invitational in 2022 and 2018 in recent seasons.

 

WWU's strong second round performance moved the team up the leaderboard four spots overtaking No. 12 nationally ranked Colorado Christian for the top spot. The Vikings finished with a 7-stroke win over the Cougars.

 

The Vikings were led by four players earning All-Tournament honors by placing in the top five, led by sophomore Daniel Blankenburg finishing in third place in the 15-team, 84-player field. Blankenburg turned in rounds of 2-under-par 70 and 5-under-par 67 to finish at 7-under-par 137.

 

Western fielded a seven-golfer lineup for the WWU Invitational, with the starting five and two individuals. Four players earned all-tournament honors for placing in the top five, with seniors Conrad Brown and Denby Carswell, and sophomore Henry Kippenhan all tying for 5th place at 5-under-par 139.

Colorado Christian senior Bradley Mulder earned individual medalist honors finishing at 10-under-par 134 with matching rounds of 5-under-par 67, two strokes ahead of runner-up Nathan Widjaya of Simon Fraser (-8, 136) and three ahead of Blankenburg. Mulder continued his streak with his third consecutive tournament win after also taking home medalist honors at the San Juan Intercollegiate (tied) and the SMU Bishop Invitational.

The Vikings are back in action at the end of October with a two-tournament trip to Hawai'i playing in the Punahele Jerky Invitational (Oct. 26-27) hosted by Hawai'i Hilo and the HPU Sharks Shootout (Oct. 30-31) hosted by Hawai'i Pacific. The 2027 spring schedule will be announced in November with the GNAC Championships being held over three days April 19-21 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
