BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University sophomore defender
Sam Hough has been selected the GNAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Hough (Bothell, WA/North Creek HS) anchored the Vikings defense in a pair of wins, first with a 2-1 win over No. 4 Point Loma and 2-0 against Westmont. Hough played in all 180 minutes in the two games, limiting opponents to one goal as the Vikings improved to 4-0-0 on the season. Hough has played all but 10 minutes across Western's four undefeated matches this season.
The Vikings entered the national rankings at No. 14 in the United Soccer Coaches Division II poll this week and is No. 3 in the West Region behind No. 2 nationally ranked Seattle Pacific (4-0-0) and No. 8 Cal State LA (3-0-0).
WWU takes to the road for the first time in 2026 this week opening a stretch of six consecutive games away from Bellingham. The Vikings extended travel slate begins in Denver, Colorado taking on Westminster (Thursday, 2:30 pm MT) and Regis (Sunday, 1:30 pm MT).
