BELLINGHAM, Wash. -
Toronto Argonauts free safety Orlondo Steinauer, who played at Western Washington University from 1992 to 1995, has been selected as a Canadian Football League all-star on the team announced Friday.
Steinauer was named as the all-Canadian free safety, making the squad for the second time. He earned the honor as a cornerback in 1998 when playing for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Steinauer had six interceptions this season, returning one for a touchdown, and added six passes knocked down and two fumble recoveries as the Argos went 9-9 in the regular season and reached the East Division finals in the playoffs.
Steinauer, who completed his seventh CFL season, also earned East Division all-star honors for the fourth time, having previously been chosen in 1997, 1998 and 2002. Steinauer has 33 interceptions in his career, having returned four for touchdowns, and his 900 yards in interception returns rank seventh in CFL history and is the best mark among active players.
