Position:
Associate Athletics Director for Community Engagement

Courtney Stringer enters her second year as Associate Athletic Director for Community Engagement in 2017-18. She started her position on August 15, 2016. She is responsible for overseeing external relations functions for the department to include sponsorships, season-ticket holders, marketing and promotions, special events, and community outreach.

Stringer joined the WWU Athletic Department after serving as a development officer in the Office of Capital and Planned Giving at the University of Puget Sound. While at Puget Sound, Stringer was a major gifts fundraiser for various endowed scholarships, athletic endowments, annual and planned gifts. Her efforts included the successful completion of a $131.6 million capital campaign, several million of which was specifically designated to raising funds for a new Athletic and Aquatic Center.

Prior to working at Puget Sound, Stringer served as Director of Alumni and Parent Relations and Assistant Director for Development at Annie Wright Schools in Tacoma where she was responsible for annual giving, directed the Alumni and Parents Councils, oversaw special events, and raised sponsorships for their annual auction. During her time at Annie Wright, alumni giving grew from 5% to 15%; grandparent giving increased from 5% to 17%; faculty/staff giving increased from 45% to 65%; trustee giving increased from 70% to 100% and parent giving increased from 15% to 65%.

A native of Issaquah, Stringer graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a degree in Chinese studies and a minor in business. While attending PLU, Stringer played collegiate lacrosse. Stringer has been coaching club, collegiate and high school varsity lacrosse teams for ten years in the South Sound and most recently, was the head coach at Bellarmine Preparatory School. She is the founder and owner of 253 Lacrosse, and serves on the Board of the US Lacrosse Washington Chapter. Stringer obtained her master’s degree in education with an emphasis in student development administration from Seattle University.
