ROHNERT PARK, Calif. - Freshman Andrew Bailey scored with two minutes left in the second overtime, lifting host Sonoma State University to a 1-0 victory over Western Washington University in the opening day of Seawolf Soccer Classic on Saturday. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Vikings, who fell to 3-2-0. Sonoma State is 2-0-0. Bailey headed in a cross from Michael Nathan in the 108th minute, ending a wild match that had 33 shot attempts and 11 yellow cards. "It was an epic battle," said Western coach Travis Connell. "Both teams had tons of great chances, there was a lot of end-to-end action. Both teams were feisty and getting cards. It was fun to be a part of." Sonoma State had a 19-14 edge in shots, including a 7-3 edge in overtime. "Ryan Hopp (Sr., Marysville/Pilchuck) was a warrior up top, and Jeremy Milsten (Sr., Puyallup/Rogers) and Kenny Mueller (So., Snohomish/Bothell) had monster games in the back. We lost to a good team today, but we were darn close to beating them." Western faces Cal State San Bernardino on Monday (11:30 a.m.) in the final game of the tourney.
