MONMOUTH, Ore. - Western Washington University's Kevin Iverson (So., Mill Creek/Jackson) finished sixth in the decathlon at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Multi-Events Championships which ended Tuesday at McArthur Stadium on the campus of host Western Oregon University.
Western Oregon sophomores Zeb Udell and Jacque Postlewait were the respective winners in the decathlon and heptathlon. Udell finished with 6,358 points and Postlewait had 4,529 points.
The two-day competitions were the first of the GNAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The remainder of the meet will take place at Bellingham's Civic Stadium and host Western Washington University on May 4-5.
Iverson had a 10-event point total of 4,819. He ended the final day by placing second in the 1,500 meters with a personal best time of 4:36.53 (702 points).
Iverson ran the 110 hurdles in 20.13 (339) and had marks of 75-0 (326) in the discus, 9-2 1/4 (309) in the pole vault and 110-5 (351) in the javelin.
"He had a so-so day, but ran a great 1,500 to finish it and got us three points," said Western coach Pee Wee Halsell.
