SPOKANE, Wash. - Western Washington University all but clinched its seventh overall GNAC All-Sports title - and its third in a row - Tuesday with wins in the men's and women's conference golf tournaments in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
The Vikings have scored 137 points and have an all but insurmountable 24-point lead over second place Seattle Pacific. Western Oregon is currently in third place with 95 points.
The Vikings also currently lead both the men's and women's competition as well. WWU is 12 points ahead of Northwest Nazarene (60-48) in the men's all-sports race and leads Seattle Pacific 77-73 in the women's race.
Four more championship events are yet to be scored - softball, baseball, men's outdoor track and field and women's outdoor track and field.
So far six different GNAC teams have won team titles led by Alaska Anchorage (men's cross country, women's cross country, women's basketball) and Seattle Pacific (women's soccer, women's volleyball, women's indoor track) with three each.
Central Washington (football, men's basketball) and Western Washington (men's golf, women's golf) each has two team championships, while Simon Fraser (men's soccer) and Western Oregon (men's indoor track and field) each have one.
