VANCOUVER, BC - Sophie Elstrott (Sr., Eugene, OR/South Eugene) shot a five-over par 78 to take medalist honors and Claire Rachor (Jr., Bellingham) carded a 79 in leading nationally ranked Western Washington University to a two-stroke victory over University of British Columbia in a women's golf dual match Friday at the Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club.
The competition was the first of the spring schedule for the Vikings, ranked No.12 in the National Golf Coaches Association/NCAA Division II Top 25.
Kara Zitzman (Jr., Woodinville/Redmond) and Alexandria Taylor (Sr., Sammamish/Eastlake) had scores of 80 and 82, respectively, for WWU, and Anna Bourland (R-Fr., Bainbridge) shot 89.
The Vikings' Brittany Wilcox, playing as an individual, shot 87.
UBC was led by Alyssa Human, who shot 79.
WWU, which tied or won three of its four fall tournaments, next competes at the Chico State University Invitational on March 19-20.
