COEUR d'ALENE, Id. - Claire Rachor (Jr., Bellingham) led a 1-2-3 finish in medalist play as Western Washington University rallied from a one-stroke deficit to win by 19 strokes Tuesday at the second annual Great Northwest Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championships played at the Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course.

The Vikings shot a final-round 308, bettering their first-day score by 15 strokes, for a 36-hole total of 631. First-round leader Saint Martin's placed second at 650 (328) in the four-team field.

Rachor, who was tied for medalist honors after play Monday, shot 76 to win by three strokes at 11-over 153.

WWU's Alex Taylor (Sr., Sammamish/Eastlake) placed second at 156 (77) and teammate Sophie Elstrott (Sr., Eugene, OR/South Eugene), last year's medalist, was third at 159 (76).

"We finally put a decent round together," said WWU coach Bo Stephan (7th year). "The team had a good attitude going into today's play even after a tough outing yesterday. The conditions were much more difficult and they played better."

The Vikings' Brittany Wilcox (Sr., Spokane/Mead) finished seventh at 163 (79) and Kara Zitzman (Jr., Woodinville/Redmond) was 18th at 191 (92).

WWU is ranked No.22 in the latest Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association Top 25.
