BURNABY, B.C. - Nationally ranked Western Washington University completed its regular season unbeaten with a 3-0 triumph over Simon Fraser University in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference women's soccer contest on Saturday, Nov.1, at Terry Fox Field on the SFU campus.

The Vikings, No.14 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division II Top 25 Poll and No.1 in the West Region rating, improved to 15-0-3 overall and captured the GNAC regular-season title for the third straight year with an 11-0-3 record.

SFU suffered its 10th straight loss in ending the season at 2-16-0 overall and 2-12-0 in GNAC play.

Stephanie Hamilton (Jr., Orting/Bellarmine Prep) gave WWU a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute, scoring her second goal of the season on a free kick.

Erin Russell (So., Brier/Mountlake Terrace) scored in the 36th minute to make it 2-0 at halftime. The goal was Russell's first of the year and Kim Cooper (Sr., Bellingham) was credited with her third assist.

The Vikings scored for the third time, tying their high for the season, in the 79th minute as Elise Aylward (So., Renton/Lindbergh) put a shot inside the far post on a cross from Caitlyn Jobanek (So., Springfield, OR/Thurston).

Starting goalkeeper Ashley Haden (Jr., Brush Prairie/Hockinson) had six saves and back-up Miranda Head (R-Fr., Marysville/Lakewood) added two as WWU recorded its 14th shutout of the season.

The Vikings lead NCAA II in goals against average at 0.22, save percentage at 93.5 and shutout percentage at 0.78. They have allowed just four goals this season, one of them an own goal.

WWU now has a streak of 57 games without allowing more than one goal in regulation time. The last one was at 2-1 loss against SPU in 2012 when the Falcons scored with 10 seconds left.

WWU next competes in the GNAC Tournament on Nov. 6 and 8 at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila.
