BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Forward Joey Schreiber (So., Renton/Eastside Catholic) scored 16 of his career-high 24 points in the first half, lifting Western Washington University to a 95-54 victory over Douglas (B.C.) College in a non-conference men's basketball game on Saturday, Nov. 29, at Sam Carver Gymnasium on the WWU campus.
Jeffrey Parker (So., Richmond, CA/Salesian) added 18 points, hitting 4-of-7 3-pointers, and Ricardo Maxwell (Jr., Cincinnati, OH/Withrow) had 12 points, eight assists and seven rebounds for the Vikings, who improved to 4-2.
Douglas, which fell to 7-12, was led by the 17 points of guard Kristian Hildebrandt, who was 4-of-4 on 3-pointers.
WWU never trailed, jumping to a 13-2 lead four minutes into the game and extending the margin to 25-7 with 7:30 gone. The Vikings held a 50-23 lead at halftime, and the gap was never less than 30 in the last 17 minutes and never less than 40 in the final six minutes.
Kyle Impero (Jr., Everson/Nooksack Valley) had 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench for WWU, which had a 57-37 advantage in rebounds and committed just seven turnovers.
The Vikings' Blake Bowen (Jr., Vancouver/Skyview) came off the bench to grab a game-high 10 rebounds, Anye Turner (Sr., Tumwater/Black Hills) had seven points, seven rebounds and a game-high five blocked shots.
Schreiber was 9-of-11 from the field, making 6-of-8 shots from beyond the arc, and Maxwell was 6-of-8 from the floor for WWU, which is 4-0 at home this season.
