BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University is ranked seventh nationally in the 2014-15 Division II Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings following completion of six fall sports.

The Vikings have a total of 202.5 points. They finished 12th in women's cross country (64.5), 13th in men's cross country (63), tied for 17th in women's soccer (50) and tied for 33rd in volleyball (25).

WWU is the top Great Northwest Athletic Conference school in the Directors' Cup standings, with Alaska Anchorage 13th (169) and Simon Fraser 14th (151).

Last year, the Vikings placed 20th nationally among 300 DII schools. It was their seventh straight Top 20 finish. They finished sixth in 2009-10, seventh in 2010-11, 10th in 2008-09, 12th in 2012-13, 13th in 2011-12 and 20th in 2007-08.

WWU has had 11 straight top 50 national all-sports finishes and been among the top 100 in each of its first 16 seasons as a NCAA II member.

The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup is a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's NCAA finish in up to 14 sports - seven women's and seven men's.
