BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Jeffrey Parker (So., Richmond, CA/Salesian) hit his first five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 21 points as Western Washington University defeated Quest (B.C.) University, 105-48, in a non-conference men's basketball game on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Sam Carver Gymnasium on the WWU campus.
Ricardo Maxwell (Jr., Cincinnati, OH/Withrow) added 15 points and seven assists for the Vikings, who improved to 5-2 with their third straight victory. WWU, which set a school record for fewest turnovers in a game with just two, is 5-0 at home this season.
Quest, ranked No.8 in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association national poll, fell to 7-3 as it had a three-game winning streak snapped. Theo VandenEkart led the Kermodes with 16 points.
WWU scored the first 12 points and led 57-14 at halftime, holding Quest to 18.8 percent field-goal shooting (6-of-32).
The victory was the fourth for the Vikings in as many meetings with Quest. None has been by less than 45 points.
WWU shot 57.1 percent (44-of-77) from the field, with Parker going 8-of-13 and Maxwell 7-of-10. Mac Johnson (Jr., Spokane/Gonzaga Prep) had 12 points for the Vikings, Joey Schreiber (So., Renton/Eastside Catholic) added 11, and Kyle Impero (Jr., Everson/Nooksack Valley) had 10.
The Vikings also had a 43-31 advantage in rebounds, with Anye Turner (Sr., Tumwater/Black Hills) grabbing a game-high12.
WWU begins Great Northwest Athletic Conference play on Saturday, Dec. 6 (7:30 p.m.), traveling to Simon Fraser University.
