Final Results

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Jenn Paul (So., Bellingham) carded the best score of the final round Tuesday with a 2-under-par 71 to finish in a tie for second in the medalist standings, helping the Western Washington University women's golf team finish third in the Western Washington Invitational Tournament at the Bellingham Golf and Country Club.

Paul shot a 2-under par 71 in the final round to finish at even-par 146, one shot behind medalist Jennifer Liedes of Saint Martin's, who had a final-round 74 to finish at 1-under 145. Ebba Moberg of team champion Northeastern State, Okla., finished tied for second with Paul, who shot a 32 on the back nine.

"Jenn Paul had another great round today," said WWU coach Bo Stephan. "She played the back nine really well."

NSU, which had four players place in the top 10, finished with a 16-over-par 600, posting a final-round score of 4-over 296. Four Riverhawks shot 75 or better on the par-73 course in the final round, with Moberg firing a 72 and Kelsey Lumpkin, who finished fourth at 148, a 74.

Saint Martin's was second in the 12-team field at 29-over 613, a shot ahead of the Vikings at 614. WWU had a final-round 301, the second-best mark of the day trailing NSU's 296.

Western's Brooke Branagan (Jr., Bellingham) was tied for 12th, shooting a final-round 75 to finish at 9-over 155. Aubrey Orem (Jr., Bellingham) was tied for 16th at 156 (77), Kristen Hansen (Sr., Spokane/Mead) tied for 21^st at 158 (78), and Stephanie Sewell (Fr., Kent/Kentridge) tied for 23rd at 159 (79).

"Right in the middle of the back nine, we had a bit of a rough stretch," said Stephan. "Overall I was really pleased with the way we played today. The two teams in front of us played really well. We dug ourselves a little bit of a hole yesterday, but overall we did a nice job competing today."

The Vikings conclude their fall season on Oct. 19-20 at the Sonoma State University Invitational.
