BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Senior forward Catherine Miles (Anacortes, WA) scored a pair of goals on Senior Night, lifting nationally ranked Western Washington University to its 14th consecutive victory, a 4-0 triumph over Northwest Nazarene University on Thursday in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference women's soccer match at Harrington Field.

The Vikings, ranked No.5 in this week's NCAA Division II Coaches Poll, improved to 16-1 overall and have clinched first place in the GNAC at 11-0. The win streak is the second longest in school history for Western, which won 38 straight games in 1982-84.

"It was a fitting performance to honor our seniors," said WWU coach Travis Connell. "They've accomplished so much during their time here."

Savanna Moorehouse (Bonney Lake, WA), one of nine seniors in their final home regular-season contest, opened the scoring in the sixth minute, getting onto a cross from the left and volleying the ball inside the right post.

Miles doubled the lead in the 28th minute with a sliding finish after a buildup that started behind the halfway line and featured five one and two-touch passes in rapid succession.

Gabriela Pelogi (Fr., Federal Way, WA/Bonney Lake) scored six minutes into the second half off the second of two assists by Stephanie Hamilton (Sr., Orting, WA/Bellarmine Prep), and Miles completed the scoring in the 75th minute.

Miles, has a team-high nine goals this season, giving her 41 for her career, just one short of fourth place in school history.

The Vikings had a 25-3 advantage in shots and posted their 11th shutout of the season.

"We worked on two things this week," said Connell. "We wanted to be patient against teams that sit back, working the ball around the back to break teams down, and we wanted to be dynamic in the final third. It's nice to see the things you've worked on in training get executed in the game."

WWU concludes its regular-season on Saturday at Concordia (4:30 p.m.).
